Wireless Power Transmission is a very popular technology nowadays. It has many advantages. We have seen wireless phone charging, walkie talkies, and many cordless wireless devices in various applications and products. Today we are going to make a wireless power transfer project in a short time, which will surely blow your mind.
There is a modern trend in wireless power supply or wireless power transfer system. But sadly most of them are fake or not powerful enough. The main reason behind this is the theoretical issue and construction complexity for making it. However, some of our fellows at Amader Electronics team have successfully managed to create this wireless power system. Based with this wireless systems, you can now run a small but powerful DC motor. But one can also modify some of its output circuitry and can run mobile chargers, phone, wireless mouse, router, charging batteries etc. Keep in mind that frequency plays a great role in this circuit. Full construction details and access to some important info are given below which some may find useful.
What is wireless?
This is a method by which anything (especially electricity or electrical signals) can be sent from one device to another without any physical contact. In this video tutorial we will use this method to run a small fan from a short distance. If you wish, mobile or battery charger can be made with this too.

Is it possible to transfer power wirelessly?
Answer to your enthusiast mind, power can be transmitted remotely by means of an electric field, magnetic field or an electromagnetic field. In wireless power transfer mechanism, a transmitter coil positioning near to a power source transmits the energy of the field to the reciever(s) coil where it is again converted back into electrical energy and thus we can use it wirelessly. The higher the transmit power better the distance.
Is wireless power dangerous?
Research has shown that Wireless chargers do emit EMF radiation, which has been shown to be harmful to the human body. However, the power and distance that it emits is actually quite low, and most wireless chargers are only active when a device is near to them for charge purpose.
What we need to do to make this project?
- Center Tap Transformer of 1 12 Volt 3 Ampere
- Power supply circuit
- Transmitter and Receiver Circuit
- Transmitters and receiver coils
- Any kind of load (small DC fan used here)

How to reduce Power Wastes and current?

The Coils are the main part of this device. If the transmitter coil is not well made, the power transmission will not good thus current transfer quality will be poor. It will require high current, meaning the power wastage increase.
How to make coils?
To make this coil, we have arranged 7 different strands of 30 SWG super enamel wires to put together. And with that twisted wire, the rest of the coil is made according to the video. Watch the video again if you have trouble understanding In this tutorial. By seeing this we can assume that the use of such a wireless power transmission system will result in a large amount of loss of electricity.
How do you increase the range of wireless transmission power?
As we have already understood how can we transfer power wirelessly, now it is time to understand how to increase it's range. There is quite few ways to do this.
- Input more power and electric charge in the transmission coil
- Make a bigger and better receiving coil
- Optimize both transmitter and receiver with higher frequency
It is possible to do some trial and error to find out the sweet spot and fine tune the total system so that long range wireless power transmission could possible.
However, it is possible to reduce the power waste greatly by improving the coil design areas, circuits, parts, and circuit designs.
